It was a night of change on southern Vancouver Island, with new mayors in seven capital region municipalities. Only three incumbent mayors who ran for re-election won. Here's a summary of what happened.

Victoria

Marianne Alto, who has served as a councillor for 12 years, will be the new mayor of Victoria after receiving 55 per cent of the vote. Her closest rival among the eight mayoral candidates, fellow Coun. Stephen Andrew, was second with 36 per cent of the vote.

Alto will be the only familiar face on council: Incumbent councillor Ben Isitt was not re-elected.
