Elections sa国际传媒 is gearing up for the provincial vote by hiring 17,000 people to work on advance voting days and final voting day.

While the non-partisan agency says it has more than enough applications in most communities, it’s proving to be a bit more of a scramble in sa国际传媒’s north and parts of Vancouver Island.

Jobs are available on final voting day, Saturday, Oct. 19, and on advance voting days that begin Thursday, Oct. 10.

“We are advertising these positions in newspapers, radio, online and social media channels,” said Elections sa国际传媒 spokeswoman Melanie Hull. A high volume of applications have come in for most electoral districts, many more than are needed for roles to fill.

But in some areas, “particularly rural and remote communities, recruitment tends to be more challenging,” said Hull.

That’s why Elections sa国际传媒 is recruiting more heavily in certain areas, and is encouraging those interested who live in northern sa国际传媒, including Prince George and the North Coast and in the Cariboo-Chilcotin, to apply.

On the Island, the greatest need for officials is in the Juan de Fuca-Malahat constituency and on the North Island, where applications are still being accepted.
