Mothers and grandmothers will be enjoying mimosas and eggs benedict while listening to live classical music at unlikely location this Mothers Day.

The Cambie in downtown Nanaimo is presenting a Mother's Day event this Sunday at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring the Vancouver Island Chamber Ensemble ( featuring members of the Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra).

There will be a special menu including mimosas, eggs benedict, blueberry pancakes with whipped cream and fruit salad with bagel and cream cheese.

The Vancouver Island Chamber Ensemble is a new ensemble created to bring the excitement of live music to Nanaimo. The repertoire is for woodwind quintet with an array of composers from Beethoven and Mozart to the French Impressionists.

The instruments in this ensemble include the French horn, oboe, flute, clarinet and the ever popular bassoon.

The musicians are all well- known in Nanaimo as members of the Vancouver Island Symphony.

Seats are limited and demand will be huge, so come early.

Entry to the event is by donation (suggested: $10) with all proceeds going to VISO.
