Canadian jumps up four places with day鈥檚 fastest women鈥檚 skeleton run

In women鈥檚 skeleton on Friday, Calgary鈥檚 Elisabeth Vathje was fastest in the second run at 52.01 seconds. That brought her up to eighth place after she finished a disappointing 12th in the first run.

In women鈥檚 skeleton on Friday, Calgary鈥檚 Elisabeth Vathje was fastest in the second run at 52.01 seconds. That brought her up to eighth place after she finished a disappointing 12th in the first run.

Jane Channell was 11th after two runs, while Ottawa鈥檚 Mirela Rahneva was 13th. The final two runs go Saturday.

Kevin Boyer of Sherwood Park, Alta., was the top Canadian in men鈥檚 skeleton, finishing 17th. South Korea鈥檚 Yun Sungbin won to claim the host nation鈥檚 first ever gold medal in any sliding event.
