The Gallery at the Chemainus Theatre Festival is pleased to announce the opening of brand new gallery space. Following extensive renovations the theatre boasts an additional display area complete with new displays and lighting. Award-winning Vancouver Island painter, Marilyn Timms will be the first painter to be show in the gallery. A reception was held Wednesday to celebrate the show.
"It's quite an honour," Timms said.
This is her first major show in Chemainus. More than half the show are watercolurs paintings, her best known medium. There are also some acrylic works. Many of the pieces are landscapes, with some florals.
"I just painted whatever moved my spirits," she said, adding colour plays a large role in her work. "I love colour, I see colour everywhere. I'm really a landscape person at heart. Timms show will be on display until May 20.
