We just got in a great book put out by Family Circle, Painted Furniture : 100+ Home Decorating Projects 2004 (ANF 747 PAI). It is filled with gorgeous full-colour photographs and very detailed instructions so that even the most untalented can be successful.

If you are like me and not confident enough to do a big piece of furniture you can try on or more of the accessory projects. I think the painted mailbox and watering cans are nice, and the garden clock made out of a grapevine wreath and mini-flower pots is rather interesting.

The section on Kid Stuff includes painting a dresser with blackboard paint. What a great idea for your little artist. You can also paint a little coat rack for jackets and a large wooden bin for storing all those toys. My children did not always get the BIG HINT but your's might.

If you are not beginning your projects right away, you might want to settle with a cup of tea and some of these other titles.

Rumours Of Another World : What On Earth Are We Missing? by Philip Yancey. 2003. (ANF 248.4 YAN)

He considers how two worlds -- the visible and invisible, natural and supernatural --might interact to affect our The Naked Woman : A Study Of The Female Body by Desmond Morris. 2004. (ANF 305.4 MOR)

In this study, people-watcher Desmond Morris turns his skill and attention to the female form, and explores how human societies have dealt with the perceived need for control and perfection of the female body.

Blow The House Down: A Novel by Robert Baer. 2006. Fiction. (FIC BAE)
