Get a glimpse inside and outside at some of south Nanaimo and Ladysmith's most spectacular homes at the Vancouver Island Symphony's fifth annual Homes of Note fundraiser on Sunday.

From 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ticket holders can take a self-guided tour of eight homes and gardens located in South Nanaimo, Yellowpoint and Ladysmith said co-ordinator Christine Whitelaw. Some of this year's highlights include a home with a five acre garden area in the Yellowpoint area, home to exotic ducks and birds. A home in Evening Cove, near the Page Point Inn, features a waterfront garden and there are two award-winning homes in Ladysmith-- one which won the Georgie Award for the best home under 2,000 square feet in sa国际传媒

"It has a huge outdoor living room with a huge deck, fireplace and kitchen," Whitelaw said.

Music lovers will enjoy a peek at the private residence and studio of musician David Gogo that was constructed six years ago of cedar, fir and Western red alder. Gogo is on tour so visitors can't go inside, but the gardens will be on display and the home has many windows so people can get a glimpse.

Nearby, his father Mike's home will be open for visitors to view an amazing collection of West Coast Native art, and much more.

"He has a private museum with Vancouver Island artifacts that will be on display," Whitelaw said.

The tour is a major fundraiser for the symphony, raising up to $10,000 most years. Whitelaw said ticket sales have been strong so far. This is the first year the tour has extended right into Ladysmith.

Tickets are available in advance only and include a map of the eight homes and booties to wear over shoes in the homes. Tickets are now available at Turley's Florists, Country Club Centre, The Quilted Duck Gift Cottage, Phaedrus & Cleo Fine Foods in Ladysmith, and the Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce.
