NCO performs with violinist

Violinist, Jessica Semper, winner of the first Nanaimo Concerto Competition for Young Musicians, will be featured as soloist in the upcoming Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra concert June 3.

Violinist, Jessica Semper, winner of the first Nanaimo Concerto Competition for Young Musicians, will be featured as soloist in the upcoming Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra concert June 3.

The Chamber Orchestra, directed by Karl Rainer, initiated the Concerto Competition in February, this year, and has awarded Jessica a prize of $200.

Jessica is 14 years old and has studied violin for six years. She is a member of the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra and is currently a student with Dolores Vann. Semper will perform the movement, Spring, from Vivaldi's, The Four Seasons. The program also includes music by Mozart, J.S. Bach, Suk, and Rachmaninoff, and is set for 7:30 pm at St. Paul's Anglican Church. Tickets are $15, adults and $10, students, available at Falconer Books and The Quilted Duck.
