North Cowichan RCMP have identified the man whose body was found floating in the Cowichan River early Friday afternoon.
The body was spotted floating in the vicinity of the 3000-block of Allenby Road just after 1:30 p.m. Friday.
The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team worked with Cowichan Search and Rescue to retrieve the body.
Police have identified the victim as a 49-year-old Duncan man and notified his family.
鈥淎lthough a full determination has not yet been made, police do not believe that criminality was involved in the man鈥檚 unexpected death,鈥� said RCMP Cpl. Jesse O鈥橠onaghey.
North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are assisting the sa国际传媒 Coroners Service as they investigate how, where, when and by what means the man died.
