South Shawnigan Lake Road reopened shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday after it was closed due to two brush fires.
Early in the afternoon, Emcon Services Inc., which is responsible for road maintenance, closed the road to traffic off the Trans-sa国际传媒 Highway. A subsequent message on social media said the fires were being managed.
The sa国际传媒 Wildfire Service tackled one of the fires, while the Malahat Fire Department took on the other. They were about one kilometre apart.
Emcon delivered water to the Malahat Fire Department. In a social media tweet, it thanked local neighbours for checking on each other.
