This summer the Royal British Columbia Museum in Victoria will encourage visitors to touch, play with, and move around in two special visiting exhibits -- FORE! The Planet and Speed -- opening June 2 and running until Sept. 10.

Speed delivers a plunge into the world of high performance and barrier smashing motion. Where does speed come from? What are the physical limits of speed? How fast is too fast? This fast-paced exhibit explores the answers to these questions and many more with over 40 interactive stations that invite visitors to see, feel and hear the effects of speed for themselves.

Climb into an Olympic-style bobsled for a simulation of the pull of gravity, build your own race car to find out how design can give you the push you need to go fast, or smash pennies in the Penny Stopper to find out what happens during rapid deceleration.

FORE! The Planet is a mini-golf adventure with a twist: each of the 18 holes shows how nature works and the impact of humans on the planet. On the front nine, visitors discover how nature works with holes like: Butterfly Life Cycle, Bat Sonar and Natural Selection. The back nine explores our interaction with the natural world.

"Both exhibits have been tremendously successful at top U.S. science centers, including Space Center Houston, and so we're pleased to be the first to showcase them here in the Pacific Northwest," said Pauline Rafferty, CEO of the Royal BC Museum.

Families will be able to get a sneak preview of the exhibits at a special Premiere the museum is holding on May 31. Tickets to the premiere are $100 for adults and $50 for children, and can be purchased by calling (250) 387-3215.
