A sa国际传媒 man who sexually abused three of his granddaughters, including an act of bestiality involving his pet dog, has been ordered to spend more than seven years in federal prison.

The 79-year-old man, who cannot be named under a court-ordered publication ban put in place to protect the identity of the victims, was sentenced after he was convicted on four counts of invitation to sexual touching and one of bestiality.

The offences took place in Northern sa国际传媒 between 2004 and 2013, when the victims were between the ages of four and 11. The communities in which the offences took place cannot be identified under the publication ban.

In one case, the man ordered his 11-year-old granddaughter to remove her pants and rub margarine on her genitals. He then directed his dog to eat the margarine.

In another case, he forced a nine-year-old granddaughter to watch pornography and then asked her to “do it for me.” She declined. In another case, he masturbated in front of a four-year-old granddaughter.

The man has no prior criminal record and plans to move to Kamloops with his wife once he is released from prison.

Prosecutors asked for nine years and the man’s defence lawyer sought six. sa国际传媒 Supreme Court Justice Paul Walker split the difference, .

In addition to the time behind bars, he will also be prohibited for life from having any unsupervised contact with anyone younger than 16. He was also given a 10-year firearms ban and ordered to submit a sample of his DNA to a national criminal database.
