A 24-year-old Sooke man was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition after his vehicle rolled on the Trans-sa国际传媒 Highway in View Royal Tuesday night.
The man’s 2018 Chevy Camaro was also impounded for 30 days after testing showed he was over the legal limit for blood-alcohol concentration.
West Shore RCMP said the driver lost control about 9:15 p.m. at the Helmcken Road on-ramp, causing the car to roll several times before ending up in the northbound lanes.
The car was heavily damaged and the air bags were deployed, but the driver and passenger sustained only minor injuries.
No other vehicles or pedestrians were involved, police said.
“Impaired driving is the leading cause of collision-related fatalities in sa国际传媒,” said Const. Andrew Matheson. “In this instance, the driver wrecked a very nice car for no reason and is incredibly lucky that he did not kill or seriously injure himself, his passenger or anyone else.”
Call 911 to report impaired drivers, he said.
