One man has been charged with attempted murder and another with assault causing bodily harm in connection with a fight Saturday morning at a house party in Saanich.

An 20-year-old man charged with attempted murder after a weekend stabbing incident at a Saanich house party is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.

Saanich police Sgt. Steve Eassie said it is expected that the charge will be changed to aggravated assault during the court process.

Defence lawyer Michael Munro, who saw Adam Taggart in cells at the Victoria courthouse Tuesday, said his client is seriously injured with a dislocated shoulder and 15 stitches on his forehead.

A second man, aged 22, is facing a charge of assault causing bodily harm from the stabbing incident. The 22-year-old is scheduled to appear in court in early May.

The stabbings were part of what Saanich police called a 鈥渃haotic scene鈥 at a home on St. Peters Road, off Quadra Street near Reynolds Road, about 4 a.m. Saturday. Police are now trying to locate an unidentified woman who was at the scene before the stabbing and was possibly the subject of the altercation that occurred.

She was not in the area when police arrived.

Police have confirmed a kitchen knife was used during the incident. They said other items, such as a guitar and a skateboard, might have been used, as well.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Bryan Rowan at 250-475-4387.
