Congregation Emanu-El Synagogue Adult Education Team invites you to the first of our 2020/21 鈥渙ne-of sessions鈥� on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 7 pm featuring a discussion of听Kafka, Nachman, Kabbalah and Neuroses听产测听Lee Henderson, an Associate Professor of Writing at the University of Victoria.听

Lee will discuss Franz Kafka, his writing, his life, and the influence of Jewish mysticism and听kabbalah听on his themes and style, and in particular, Kafka鈥檚 familiarity with the great听岣蝉颈诲颈肠听storyteller from a century earlier, Rabbi Nachman.
Gershon Scholem was first to identify the common ground between Kafka鈥檚 stories and Nachman鈥檚. And there are parallels between their lives, too, worth observing. Nachman, the great spiritualist. Kafka, the great existentialist. They had much in common.
