sa国际传媒 Ferries and union agree to five-year labour deal

The union representing workers at sa国际传媒 Ferries has ratified a five-year contract.

The agreement between the company and the sa国际传媒 Ferry and Marine Workers鈥 Union, reached on Oct. 22, calls for no wage increases the first year, 2% increases in the second and third years and 鈥渨age re-openers鈥 for years four and five.

鈥淭he agreement negotiated between the parties has been accepted by our membership,鈥 union president Graeme Johnston said in a statement. 鈥淥ur Union acknowledges we are in difficult times, and we are hopeful our commitment to helping the ferry system weather these difficult times will be recognized in better times come the wage reopeners.鈥

About 4,000 employees are covered by the collective agreement, which marks 22 years of labour stability at sa国际传媒 Ferries, said Mark Collins, the corporation鈥檚 president and CEO.

Collins said in a statement that the agreement provides for 鈥渇air and modest鈥 wage and benefit increases. He thanked the sa国际传媒 Ferry & Marine Workers鈥 Union for a 鈥渃ollaborative and professional process.鈥

鈥淭he company extends its thanks to employees for their commitment to helping the ferry system weather these difficult times,鈥 he said.
