RICHMOND — sa国际传媒 Hydro says it will be providing rebates for the installation of solar panels and battery storage systems for homes and businesses.

Eligible homeowners can receive rebates up to $10,000 for installing qualified solar and battery systems, while apartment buildings, schools, businesses and others could get back $50,000 to $150,000.

For residential installations, the maximum solar panel rebate is $5,000; it’s also a maximum of $5,000 for a battery system. Installations must link to sa国际传媒 Hydro’s grid.

The utility said the program will make it easier for individuals and businesses to generate their own electricity, reduce their power bills and deliver clean energy back to the electricity grid.

The rebates are part of a plan to accelerate the shift to clean energy and comes after sa国际传媒 Hydro made a call for more clean power generation for the first time in 15 years and updated its capital plan that includes $40 billion in investments.

Chris O’Riley, sa国际传媒 Hydro CEO, said investing in systems today puts the province on the path to meet power demands later and that’s why they’re taking action to source clean electricity.

Information on eligibility requirements and how to apply will be available in July at bchydro.com.

Systems that are already installed are not eligible for the rebate.
