Customers hoping to shop at The Bay in downtown Victoria on Monday found signs at the entrances saying the store was closed due to “systems issues.”
“We wanted to see it, but I guess we won’t,” said a couple vacationing from Idaho.
Victoria’s flagship Bay store has been closed since Friday, according to one shopper.
The company is doing maintenance on its heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, Tiffany Boureé, vice-president of communications for HBC, said in an email Monday.
HBC did not provide a date when the downtown Bay store would reopen, saying only that it would be “as soon as possible.”
HBC referred customers to The Bay outlet at Mayfair Shopping Centre, or its online shopping portal.
The rest of the Bay Centre remains open.
