The Downtown Victoria Business Association is launching a contest to encourage residents to shop locally during the pandemic.
Over the summer, shoppers are invited to register their purchases from downtown Victoria businesses as a 鈥減ledge鈥 on the online Support-O-Meter at SavetheSales.ca. Each week, one entrant will win the value of their purchases 鈥 up to $100.
All pledges will also be entered to win a grand prize of $5,000.
The DVBA says the more businesses you support and the more 鈥減ledges鈥 submitted to the Support-O-Meter, the more chances you have of winning the weekly prize or grand prize. Plus, no purchase is too small.
A half-hour SAVE the SALES Telethon hosted by Ed Bain and Jeff King will air at 6 p.m. on Aug. 22 on CHEK TV and stream on .
鈥淚t鈥檚 essential for people to know just how important their purchases are for the continued survival of businesses downtown,鈥 says Jeff Bray, executive director for the DVBA. 鈥淭he SAVE the SALES campaign is a fun way to remind people that every little bit helps, and that our business community is dedicated to ensuring shoppers are comfortable and safe as they visit Downtown Victoria businesses.鈥
The SAVE the SALES virtual telethon and contest runs until Sept. 30. Details as well as contest rules can be found at
