Walmart shoppers across Vancouver Island have been finding many store shelves low or empty of items in a flashback to the early days of the pandemic.
Shoppers took to social media this week to complain about the lack of cheese, meat, yogurt, vegetables and fruit at a number of Island stores.
The problem this time wasn’t a global event or panic buying but the company’s internal supply chain.
“A number of our sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Walmart Supercentres are experiencing some recent internal supply chain challenges affecting the fresh and frozen food categories,” said Jon Rumley, manager of corporate affairs at Walmart sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½, adding the company is working on the problem and product availability continues to improve daily.
“We apologize to our customers for this short-term inconvenience and thank them for their understanding.”
