New president for builders group
Dusty Delain of Amity ÂConstruction has been named the new president of the ÂVictoria Residential Builders Association, succeeding Kyle Ryan of Abstract Developments.
The new board also includes first vice-president Norm ÂVerbrugge, Norman Homes Inc., who was also named builders council chair; second vice-president Ellie Sercombe, Limona Construction; treasurer Mike Dalton, Città Group; and Âsuppliers and trades council chair Derek Ballman, FloForm Countertops.
The directors are Ballman; Tony Aindow, Goodison Construction; Russ Barry, Interactive Construction; Lisa Dunsmuir, Step One Design; Amandeep Gill, Patriot Homes; Steven Hurst, W & J Construction; Dan Olive, SeaFirst Insurance Brokers; Paul Smith, K2 Stone (Victoria); and Brian Trenchard, EnViroTec General Contracting.
The following won President’s Awards for the 2019/20 season:

Clapp to lead construction group
James Clapp of Wilson M. Beck Insurance is the new chair of the Vancouver Island Construction Association. He takes over from Roger Yager of Knappett Projects Inc., who will remain on the board as past chair.
Chris Lyons of Omicron Construction is the new vice-chair after serving as treasurer. Stuart Cuthbert, Mazzei Electric (Nanaimo and Victoria), Mark Liudzius, Kinetic Construction Ltd. (Victoria) and Kate Ulmer, Herold Engineering (Victoria) were re-elected to the board.
Former director Morley Wilkins, Campbell Construction (Victoria), will also be making his return to the VICA board.
Outgoing director David Flint of Flynn sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½, a former past chair, was recognized for 12 years of service on the VICA board. During his tenure, Flint was involved in numerous initiatives, including the amalgamation of the three construction associations on the Island in 2011.
