The Vitamin Shop celebrates 35 years
The Vitamin Shop is celebrating its 35th anniversary this weekend.
The downtown business was opened in September 1984 by Bruce Reid and remains in the same location at 1212 Broad St.
Reid introduced the region, and the country, to a progressive retail model in the health food industry with a foundation to 鈥渙ffer consumers high quality brand-name nutritional supplements at discounted prices with unparalleled customer service.鈥�
The Vitamin Shop, which has 35 employees, has grown to include a mail-order service and a website for online sales.
Gelato maestro going to Hollywood
Stefano Mosi, founder of Mosi Gelato, will be competing at the annual Gelato Festival America at the West Hollywood鈥檚 Pacific Design Center Sept. 28.
There will be 10 contestants from all over North America vying for a chance to compete in the Gelato Festival World Masters 2021 in Italy.
Mosi鈥檚 competing flavour is Seamist, which uses Silk Road Tea, fresh mint, lime, lemongrass, peppermint leaves, and restorative seaweed.

Seaspan Shipyards has appointed James Clarke as its new chief financial officer. Clarke joins Seaspan from the Houston office of SNC Lavalin, where he was the CFO and senior vice-president of finance for the oil and gas division. Clarke will be based at Vancouver Shipyards ... The sa国际传媒 Chamber of Commerce has added Arlene Rolston, corporate secretary at the Port of Nanaimo, to its board of directors for a three-year term.
SendtoNews fourth in national growth
Victoria-based SendtoNews, which provides sports video content and advertising, was ranked fourth overall on Canadian Business and Maclean鈥檚 Growth 500 List, which tracks sa国际传媒鈥檚 fastest-growing companies. For the third consecutive year, Q聽at the Empress has been given Wine Spectator鈥檚 Award of Excellence.
