Interior work on the former Sears store at Hillside Centre has been ongoing for several months behind papered windows for what is believed to be the region鈥檚 third Walmart Super Centre. But this week, some attention is being given to the exterior of the 150,000-square-foot space, and the blue colour scheme at both North Dairy Road entrances suggests it will be a Walmart.
The U.S.-based retailer and Hillside Centre have refused official comment on the new store, though a Langford employee told media outlets in late 2019 that there are plans for Walmart to open there. It has been empty since Sears closed in late 2017, and is the same area footprint of Canadian Tire in Hillside Centre. DARREN STONE PHOTO, TIMES COLONIST
