Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced 45 new cases of COVID-19 in sa国际传媒, bringing the total number of cases to 231.
There are now 16 cases on Vancouver Island, 144 cases in the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, 58 in Fraser Health, nine in Interior Health and four in Northern Health.
The vast majority of patients are resting at home. However, 13 patients are in acute care.
Health Minister Adrian Dix said about 17,000 people have been tested for the disease.
Close to one million people have already checked out the government's COVID-19 self-assessment tool, said Dix.
Henry implored people to wash their hands, cover their mouths when they cough and be mindful of vulnerable people, including the elderly, who are more prone to infection and need support from the community.
鈥淲e need to really think about taking care of each other, taking care of our communities and our families because it will be a changing situation over next few weeks,鈥 she said.
Health Minister Adrian Dix echoed those sentiments, saying everyone has a shared civic responsibility in protecting one another from the pandemic.
鈥淔or anyone who has been reluctant to join in these very explicit measures we can do to help protect one another鈥檚 health, I say it鈥檚 not too late to join the fight,鈥 he said.
Dix said at least 17,000 people in the province have been tested for the virus at five sites around the province and up to 4,000 calls a day are being answered on an 811 line.
