sa国际传媒’s prime minister says he has tested positive for COVID-19 but has no symptoms and is feeling well.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been in isolation since Thursday, after one of his three children tested positive for the virus.

He said Monday that another of his children is battling the illness now as well.

News of Trudeau’s illness came most of the downtown core of Ottawa remained in a forced lockdown due to a convoy of protesters that descended on the nation’s capital on the weekend.

The crowds of thousands that turned downtown Ottawa into a gridlocked nightmare for locals over the weekend has dwindled, but a few hundred people gathered in front of Parliament Hill on Monday, and numerous commercial rigs still block most of Wellington Street in front of the Parliament Buildings.

Similar protests were held across the country, including one in Victoria that drew up to 5,000 people. In Alberta, a convoy of trucks was blocking a highway at a U.S. border crossing.

Trudeau said he will continue to work remotely all week and plans to virtually address the House of Commons tonight about the situation in Ukraine.

The challenge his family is facing is known very well by many families around the world, he said.

“It’s frustrating that after two years, the battle against COVID-19 is still dominating so many parts of our lives,” he said. “This virus affects us all.”

He repeated his oft-repeated request for Canadians to get vaccinated.

Trudeau is fully vaccinated and received his booster shot at a local Ottawa pharmacy in early January.

Monday is the first day that members of Parliament are returning to the House of Commons after the winter holiday break.
