1951 Chevy two-door hardtop

We've had plenty of feedback from readers in response to our call for photos and stories of beloved cars from years gone by. Here are this week's entries, but it's not too late to tell us about your favourite - just send us up to 250 words and a (preferably) high-res image to [email protected]

1951 Chevy two door hardtop, two tone blue. Bought in 1962, having just arrived on the receiving lot of Empress Motors. 61,000 original miles, one owner. Six cylinder, standard.

When the insurance check was made, all that was found was the front wheel bearings were worn. The car was then listed as "showroom condition."

Many happy memories followed, with only two trips off the Island. After reaching 100,000 miles, I sold the car to my future best man. I found the original owner's manual years later and keep it in my scrapbook beside a picture of the car.

1990 Audi Coupe Quattro

This is my fully restored 1964 TVR Grantura Mk III. There were 97 of this particular model produced with very few still on the road today; most of those still around have been converted to vintage race cars.

It took me three years to restore this car from the ground up. I did all mechanical work, electrical, powder coating of parts and of course the painting myself.

The body is made of fibreglass and is bonded (not bolted) directly to the tubular steel chassis and is powered by a 1800cc MGB dri-vetrain.

For those who know about TVRs, this is the exact model that someone had the bright idea of stuffing a Ford V-8 into and called it the Griffith 200.

1964 TVR Grantura Mk III

December 1990, this coupe ad sat in the Douglas VW howroom for three months nd judging by the cobweb hat had formed across the river side foot well, few had at in it. For me, though, with ove at first sight there was o hope - Bruce came to me ith an offer I couldn't efuse and on Dec. 7, 1990, I rove away in the snow in my econd Quattro. It is one of nly 3,600 imported into orth America in 1990/91 so t was great not "seeing yself coming" on any high-ay. I just found a buyer qualified" to take ownership

- so it is off to Calgary this week. In my opinion, there is no equal to the Quattro drive and this coupe like the 4000s was reliable to a fault. It took us into the Rockies, Vail, and all points in between that had a ski hill, every winter for 22 years and twice across sa国际传媒, and all in some of the worst weather conditions imaginable. Nothing fazed the CQ. I will miss it - but hopefully my new favourite car, a Shelby GT500 will assuage my grief, albeit not in the snow.

1960 Morris Minor 1000

In 1979, we purchased this English Morris Minor four-door sedan. We had always wanted this very popular British car used in its day for police and district nurses in England. Remember the Heartbeat serie

It was purchased in 1979 from Cobble Hill and has been cosmetically updated and is a treat to drive with its peppy original 948-cc overhead-valve engine. It's a very rare four-door sedan.

We still own it today and it is a real crowd-pleaser at car shows.
