Editorial: Sooke Potholes transfer a win-win

Things are looking up for the Sooke Potholes. Three parcels of land owned by The Land Conservancy of sa国际传媒 along the Sooke River will become part of Sooke Potholes Regional Park, the culmination of a process begun more than 10 years ago.

Things are looking up for the Sooke Potholes. Three parcels of land owned by The Land Conservancy of sa国际传媒 along the Sooke River will become part of Sooke Potholes Regional Park, the culmination of a process begun more than 10 years ago.

The Capital Regional District and TLC raised funds to buy what became the regional park and the three parcels in 2004. When the park was formed in 2005, TLC retained the three parcels, totalling 8.5 hectares, but the CRD obtained right of first refusal on those parcels, with the idea of eventually incorporating them into the park.

As part of its financial survival plan, TLC is selling or transferring most of its 50 properties around sa国际传媒 That includes the transfer of the Sooke properties to the CRD.

Merging the properties into one entity is a win-win situation, easing pressure on TLC and securing the future of a popular recreation spot and a place of natural beauty.
