The waiting is over, book-lovers. The annual sa国际传媒 Book Sale kicks off today at 9 for two days of literary nirvana.

If past years are anything to go by, some eager fans were up with the sun to line up at the Victoria Curling Club, 1952 Quadra St. They will be the ones clutching warming cups of coffee as they imagine the treasures they will find among the hundreds of thousands of books.

For the past two weeks, dedicated volunteers (some who have been doing this for years) have combed through the mountain of books, sorting them by category and setting them out on trestle tables. The sa国际传媒 might be the face of the book sale, but the volunteers are its heart and soul.

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., today and Sunday, book-hunters will stream into the building. Some bring bags or boxes; some bring wheeled carts to take home their booty.

If you have never visited the sale, give it a try. With this the 21st year, it has become a Victoria institution.

The prices are the same as always: $1 for paperbacks and children鈥檚 books, $2 for softcovers and $3 for hardcovers. Some collectable titles will be offered for more in the special-book section. All the money collected goes to literacy programs and education on the Island.

Since 1998, more than $5 million has been raised and distributed.

Make a list of the titles you want, or just leave it to serendipity, but join us this weekend for a book-lover鈥檚 delight.
