NEW YORK (AP) 鈥 Richard Moll, a character actor who found lasting fame as an eccentric but gentle giant bailiff on the original 鈥淣ight Court鈥 sitcom, has died. He was 80.

Moll died Thursday at his home in Big Bear Lake, California, according to Jeff Sanderson, a publicist at Chasen & Company.

Moll played "Bull鈥 Shannon on NBC's 鈥淣ight Court鈥 from 1984-1992 alongside stars Harry Anderson and John Larroquette. His character formed a close friendship with the court鈥檚 other bailiff, Roz Russell, played by Marsha Warfield. Bull was known for his catchphrase, 鈥淥hh-kay,鈥 and a dim but sweet world view.

After 鈥淣ight Court鈥 ended, Moll contributed his trademark gravelly voice to various video games and comic book projects like 鈥淏atman: The Animated Series鈥 as Harvey Dent and appeared in horror films like 鈥淕host Shark鈥 (2013) and 鈥淪lay Belles鈥 (2018).

He voiced Scorpion on the 1990s' 鈥淪pider-Man: The Animated Series鈥 and had small parts in 1994's 鈥淭he Flintstones," the Arnold Schwarzenegger comedy 鈥淛ingle All the Way鈥 and 鈥淪cary Movie 2.鈥

The towering actor 鈥 he was 6-feet 8-inches tall 鈥 did not join starring Larroquette. The original 鈥淣ight Court鈥 finale ended with his character being abducted by aliens who needed someone tall to reach the things on their highest shelves.

Moll is survived by his children, Chloe and Mason Moll; ex-wife, Susan Moll; and stepchildren Cassandra Card and Morgan Ostling.
