NEW YORK (AP) 鈥� She's Barbie. He's just Ken. And now, it's Christmas.
On Wednesday, Ryan Gosling 鈥� the Ken to Margot Robbie's 鈥� released the 鈥淚'm Just Ken鈥� EP alongside collaborators Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt. It features the original , 鈥�80s-style power ballad from the movie, also titled 鈥淚鈥檓 Just Ken,鈥� as well as three remixes: the stripped down 鈥淚鈥檓 Just Ken (In My Feelings Acoustic),鈥� the dance floor ready 鈥淚鈥檓 Just Ken (Purple Disco Machine Remix),鈥� and the festive 鈥淚鈥檓 Just Ken (Merry Kristmas Barbie).鈥�
The later was released with , where Gosling, Wyatt and Ronson are seen working on the holiday remix of the song in a studio drenched in Christmas lights with an impressive live band, bantering with one another. At one point, a goofy Gosling puts on a pair of sunglasses to get into character, telling Ronson he's doing so because "the world can have Ken's voice but only Barbie can have his eyes.鈥�
The trio are joined by a full band as well by two cellists, four violinists and a glockenspiel. Gosling's vocals are run through reverb 鈥� adding to the triumphant and whimsical reimagining. 鈥淢erry Christmas, Barbie,鈥� he ends the song. 鈥淲herever you are.鈥�
In July, Ronson, who worked as the executive producer of the 鈥淏arbie鈥� soundtrack and also scored it alongside Wyatt, he typically only contributes music to songs for film 鈥� but in the case of 鈥淚'm Just Ken,鈥� couldn't shake a few lyrics that made the final cut, like its memorable chorus of "I鈥檓 just Ken, anywhere else I鈥檇 be a 10.鈥�
鈥淚'm Just Ken鈥� is up for best song written for visual media at the 2024 Grammy Awards as well as and the Golden Globe .
