See 60 local kids in Nutcracker
Alberta Ballet and the Victoria Symphony unite for holiday favourite The Nutcracker this weekend at the Royal Theatre. Sixty local children will be featured in the performance, with more than 100 people on stage.
On opening night, children from the community whose families could not otherwise afford a ticket will be sponsored to attend the performance through select organizations. Ticket prices range from $39 to $111. For more information, visit .
Benefit features mandolin player
John Reischman, celebrated Vancouver-based mandolin player, performs this weekend in the annual Bluegrass Christmas Benefit Concert to raise funds for Our Place. Reischman played on the Grammy-winning True Life Blues: The Songs of Bill Monroe in 1997 and was a member of the Tony Rice Unit.
The concert, set for Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Cordova Bay United Church, also features Reischman鈥檚 band, the Juno-nominated Jaybirds, with guitarist Patrick Sauber, Victoria鈥檚 Miriam Sonstenes and Jeff Dill. Tickets are $25/30. See .
