The first week of performances of a Belfry Theatre production has been cancelled after one of the performers suffered an injury.
Little Red Warrior & His Lawyer was scheduled to run through Feb. 27 at the Fernwood theatre, with dress rehearsals set for Tuesday and Wednesday. Opening night for the Governor General’s Award-winning play, originally set for Thursday, is now tentatively scheduled for some time next week.
The incident occurred when one of the actors tripped and fell during a rehearsal on the weekend, aggravating a prior injury. “They are recovering but to ensure they can perform in this very physical show, we felt it was best to give them extra time,” the Belfry said in a statement on its website. “We will be monitoring the situation and expect to update everyone when we know more.”
Those who purchased tickets to attend this week’s performances will be contacted by box office staff, with options to either reschedule or receive a refund.
