Victoria鈥檚 long-running musical-theatre cabaret series is celebrating its 20th cabaret show tonight with a special tribute to Broadway composer and lyricist Frank Loesser.

Gotta Getta Gimmick鈥檚 popular chorus line/cabaret events traditionally celebrate a particular composer in the first act, followed by a New York-style cabaret event in the second.

The event鈥檚 new home for the show is Langham Court Theatre. Past cabarets have been staged at the Belfry Theatre, the Victoria Event Centre and Hermann鈥檚 nightclub.

鈥淲e鈥檙e in a new, larger venue for us, and we鈥檙e super-excited,鈥 said performer and production partner Sarah Carle.

A cast of 25 will belt out new interpretations of popular tunes by Loesser, a legendary American songwriter best known for his Broadway hits Guys and Dolls and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

Loesser鈥檚 other major accomplishments include his music for the Hollywood musical Hans Christian Andersen, and musicals such as Where鈥檚 Charley and The Most Happy Fella.

The Loesser lineup, which will also include lesser-known material, will feature songs such as Baby, It鈥檚 Cold Outside, Adelaide鈥檚 Lament, Take Back Your Mink and I Believe in You.

Refreshments, socializing, and trivia and musical-theatre games will all be part of the action in the Langham Lounge after the main event, Carle said.

Previous shows have celebrated musical-theatre giants from Stephen Sondheim to Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The revues are the culmination of a series of musical-theatre workshops led by industry coaches to cultivate local talent and inspire enthusiasts who become part of the chorus.

Shows feature a who鈥檚 who of Victoria鈥檚 musical-theatre talent, with pianist Jim Hill accompanying folks with sheet music and chutzpah to strut their stuff on stage during the second half.
