ROCK
What: Ragged Glory, A Tribute to Neil Young
When: Saturday, Dec. 12, 7:30 p.m.
Tickets: by donation from
Why: The last scheduled in-person performance by Victoria’s Ragged Glory had the unfortunate situation of falling on Nov. 19 — the day the province cancelled all in-person events. Though that sold-out show was called off hours before showtime, the band has re-grouped and will stage a live stream from Hermann’s on Saturday night — a second kick at the canon of Neil Young, so to speak. Expect the players to have some fire in their bellies, with potential home-runs at every turn.
MUSICAL THEATRE
What: Home for the Holidays
When: Sunday, Dec. 13, 3 p.m.
Tickets: By donation ($5, $10, or $25) from
Why: A Christmas production for families by the Victoria On Stage Musical Theatre Society will be streamed online Sunday afternoon. Singing, dancing, and comedy are on the to-do list for the company formerly known as the Victoria Operatic Society, which is celebrating 75 years a bit differently than it had intended this month. Patrons will need to register in order to receive the streaming link for the 40-minute performance; keep an eye out for the donation option, as the Victoria On Stage Musical Theatre Society needs your help to navigate these treacherous times.
JAZZ
What: Nick La Riviere Presents: Three Community-Band Charity Fundraiser Power Hour
When: Tuesday, Dec. 15, 5:30 p.m.
Tickets: By donation at
Why: Bandleader and trombonist Nick La Riviere is bringing together three community bands under his direction for a livestreaming event on Tuesday, one that will raise funds for the Living Edge and Rainbow Kitchen charities. The showcase from Hermann’s Jazz Club will spotlight the groups Jive (swing, rock ’n’ roll), Soul Source (R&B, funk), and the Blue Bozzes (jazz). La Riviere is one of the bright lights in Victoria music, so his events are always worth your time. Donations can be made at .
