Victoria鈥檚 Esi Edugyan will offer her analysis of the relationship between race and art as part of the CBC Massey Lectures later this year, it was announced Monday.
The series, a partnership between CBC, House of Anansi Press and Massey College in the University of Toronto, will be broadcast on CBC Radio in September.
Edugyan鈥檚 lecture series, Out of the Sun: On Art, Race, and the Future, will made into a book of the same name that is set for publication on Sept. 28. Out of the Sun will be the first book from the two-time Scotiabank Giller Prize winner and University of Victoria graduate since the release of her 2018 best-seller, Washington Black.
The CBC Massey Lectures is one of the top forums for critical thinkers in the country. Past lecturers include Martin Luther King, Jr., Noam Chomsky, and Margaret Atwood.
