Exercise your grey cells at the library

n Technology Petting Zoo: Drop by for a chance to take the latest and greatest electronic books for a test drive with the help of library staff. If you can鈥檛 attend an event, drop in for a self-guided introduction to the devices until Feb. 1. No registration required.

The events run three times: 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the central branch, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 12 at the Nellie McClung branch, and 1 to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Central Saanich branch.

n Join a group of your neighbours for a friendly game of Scrabble at the library. Games are played twice a month on the second Tuesday evening and the fourth Tuesday afternoon. Everyone is welcome, but pre-registration is recommended. Games will be cancelled if there are fewer than three players. Register through the library鈥檚 online calendar at gvpl.ca or by calling your local branch. The next game is Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Emily Carr branch.

n Enjoy chess? Drop in for weekly chess in the library. Chess sets will be available for borrowing from the information desk. No registration required. First game of the year is at 7 p.m. today at the Emily Carr branch. Subsequent meetings are 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 9 to March 27 at the central branch.
