Theatre kids want the shirt off your back

You can be part of the fashion machine at an event that is part- installation, part-performance and all fun at the Royal sa国际传媒 Museum from Friday to Sunday.

Fashion Machine 100, a live performance event hosted by Theatre SKAM, features 100 local children aged between nine and 14 remaking audience members鈥 outfits in under one hour.

Upon arrival, each audience member is given a choice between two stickers.

Choose the sticker with a chicken on it and the kids will leave you alone. But if you choose 鈥淚鈥檓 in,鈥 it means you鈥檙e willing to have the clothes you are wearing cut up, redesigned and remade. (Don鈥檛 worry, they give you a robe to wear in the meantime.)

You will be interviewed by groups of four show members before they transform your clothes into a piece of wearable art. You can move about to observe each team of children at work, listen to pop music and view multimedia projections of the children at work.

The children have been prepared for the event by a team of professionals who provided 13 hours of training in theatre, photography, clothing manufacturing and design.

The project is supported through the Victoria Foundation鈥檚 ALACS Fund and the Ruby Red Fund.

The show is $10 per person, or $30 per family (two adults and up to three youths).

It runs 7 to 9 p.m. Friday to Sunday at the Royal sa国际传媒 Museum, 675 Belleville St.
