Set sail for a new adventure with an introductory afternoon or evening sail on the Sooke Basin — no experience necessary — Saturday at Mariners Village Dock, Sooke.
The Sooke Sailing Association and Starlight Sailing Adventures are hosting the event, which will see landlubbers find their sea legs in the Sooke Basin or the Juan de Fuca Strait.
Successful participants on their first sail will earn themselves a Sail sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Introduction to Sailing certificate.
You will take to the seas on a 32-foot Aloha 32 sailboat, with more boats available if needed. Bring along a personal flotation device if you have one — but they will be supplied as well. Dress in warm and dry clothing, as it is always colder on the water.
The program is $75 per person or $180 per family. The event runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The program repeats throughout the year.
Please advise in advance if you are attending to make sure there is room on the boat. Meet at Mariners Village Marina in Sooke to leave the dock at 11 a.m. Best to park in the viewing parking lot and walk down.
