The Farquhar Auditorium at the University of Victoria has announced its 2024-25 season, which includes a unique collaboration with the Victoria Symphony and the Victoria debut by a Mongolian supergroup.

The 1,200-seat theatre, the second-largest in the city behind the Royal Theatre, opens its upcoming season on Sept. 18 with Voices in Circle: Amplifying Indigenous Cultural Voices, a season-long series featuring established and emerging Indigenous artists. The three-pronged performance booked to open Voices in Circle features the Victoria Symphony, the Emily Carr String Quartet, and Inuk throat singer Tanya Tagaq, and is followed by another engaging collaboration Oct. 10-12: The Land Acknowledgement or As You Like It, by playwright Cliff Cardinal.

The radical retelling of William Shakespeare’s As You Like will have its Victoria debut thanks to a partnership with Intrepid Theatre, which features off-campus performances held downtown at the Metro Studio.

Spoken word artist Shane Koyczan (Feb. 26), Mongolian supergroup Anda Union (March 1), roots duo Sechile Sedare (April 25), and Metis dance group V’ni Dansi (June 17, 2025) round out the programming for the third Voices in Circle season.

Other Farquhar Auditorium presentations on tap at the university in 2024-25 include Vancouver magician Vitaly Beckman in Vitaly: An Evening of Wonders on Dec. 7, and the combined talents of Lulo Reinhardt, Alexandra Whittingham, Niwel Tsumbu, and Sönke Meinen under the banner of International Guitar Night, which takes place Jan. 29.
