Frankly speaking, May I Be Frank is the inspirational movie to see in Victoria this week.
A bonus is that Frank Ferrante, the Brooklyn-born star, will attend Cine-centa's screenings tonight and Thursday at 7: 30 p.m.
It marks his first trip to sa国际传媒 as part of a world tour.
When filmmakers Cary Mosier, Ryland Engelhart and Conor Gaffney first met Ferrante, 54, he was a morbidly obese, pre-diabetic lover of life, women and great food who was estranged from his daughter and struggling with depression.
The film documents the single Sicilian's transformative life experiences since the day he wandered into San Francisco's Caf脙漏 Gratitude in search of coffee, not realizing it was actually a restaurant specializing in raw, organic and vegan food.
After befriending staff and feeling welcome, he got a new lease on life, renewed self-esteem and a second chance at love.
The San Francisco-based man agreed to turn his life over to Ryland, whose family owns the caf脙漏, and his creative collaborators for 42 days, thus beginning his physical, emotional and spiritual transformation, including a weekly colonic.
All seats are $5.75 for the special presentation. A reception at 6: 45 p.m. will precede tonight's first showing.
