A Victoria speaking engagement by author Jordan Peterson — tickets to which ran as high as $608.50 for a VIP meet and greet package — has been cancelled.
It was announced in October that Peterson, 62, would bring his We Who Wrestle With God Tour to the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre on March 31. The tour stop in Victoria was recently cancelled by promoter Live Nation, for unspecified reasons.
The Edmonton-born Peterson appeared at the arena for a sold-out lecture in 2023, which drew a response from a group of University of Victoria students protesting the author’s opposition to Bill C-16, an amendment to the Canadian Human Rights Act that addressed gender identity.
Peterson also recently clashed with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and announced Dec. 6 on his daughter’s podcast that he now resides in the United States, citing personal and professional reasons for leaving sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½.
Tickets for the canceled appearance bought over the phone or internet will be automatically refunded within 10 business days, according to the arena. Tickets bought in-person at the arena box office can be refunded at the point of purchase.
