Great Big Sea singer Alan Doyle has landed another role in a major film - and he's working with good buddy Russell Crowe again.
Doyle tweeted Wednesday after his first day on set of the upcoming film Winter's Tale.
The 43-year-old says he'll be portraying a thief in the film from Akiva Goldsman, an established producer making his directorial debut.
The film also reportedly features Will Smith, Colin Farrell, Jennifer Connelly and William Hurt.
Based on the 1983 novel by Mark Helprin, the fantasy film casts Farrell as a thief - protected by a flying white horse - in 19thcentury Manhattan who falls in love with a dying girl.
Doyle previously had a role in Crowe's 2010 effort Robin Hood, while the two friends also made an appearance together on CBC-TV's Republic of Doyle.
