Q: Is 鈥淐ode Black鈥� coming back?
A: As I have said before, yes, it is. But CBS recently changed the date for the season premiere. It was previously set for May 2 in the 鈥淐riminal Minds鈥� time slot, following that series鈥� season finale on April 25. CBS has now moved the 鈥淐riminal Minds鈥� season finale to April 18 (where it will be a two-hour telecast) and will resume 鈥淐ode Black鈥� on April 25.
Q: Can you please tell me the name of the actress who played Amy Sykes on 鈥淢ajor Crimes鈥�? I really loved her and hope she will show up soon in something else.
A: That was Kearran Giovanni. On Twitter (where she鈥檚 @KearranGiovanni) she has mentioned being busy during 鈥減ilot season鈥� (when actors work on pilot episodes of shows hoping to get a series pickup this spring). Recent TV work includes a couple of appearances on 鈥淒esignated Survivor鈥� and one on the current version of 鈥淒ynasty.鈥� You can also catch up on her last turn on 鈥淢ajor Crimes鈥�; the sixth and final season was released on DVD on March 13.
Q: We鈥檝e been traveling frequently this spring and I鈥檝e missed some episodes of 鈥淒esignated Survivor.鈥� The last one I鈥檝e seen, since the death of the president鈥檚 wife, has only shown the daughter, however reference was made to 鈥檛he children鈥� being needed by him. Where鈥檚 the young son?
A: Leo Kirkman, played by Tanner Buchanan, could be seen in the Feb. 28 episode called 鈥淕rief,鈥� where President Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) had to deal with his emotions over his wife鈥檚 death. Viewers saw the president telling both of his children about their mother鈥檚 death, their reactions (a tearful one from Leo) and their attending their mother鈥檚 burial.
Q: Is Tom Selleck going to make another 鈥淛esse Stone鈥� movie?
A: I鈥檓 told Hallmark has penciled one in, but it could be some time until it airs; for one thing, there鈥檚 no script yet. And let鈥檚 not forget that Selleck has another job 鈥� starring on 鈥淏lue Bloods.鈥�
Q: Do the kids on 鈥淢asterChef Junior鈥� receive coaching to create the exotic dishes within the show? They are cooking stuff I鈥檝e never heard of much less eaten.
A: It鈥檚 my understanding that the contestants get to see cookbooks and have practice time in the kitchen while on the show. The judges have also been known to show new skills to the contestants.
Q: I heard that Randy Travis made a movie named 鈥淭he Promise鈥� shortly before his stroke and it was to be released a few summers ago on Netflix. I watched for it and never saw it on Netflix. Has it been released somewhere else? I鈥檇 love to watch the movie.
A: From what I can find, the film has been released as 鈥淭he Price.鈥� Travis played a country- music legend in the drama; the cast also includes singer James Dupre and Travis鈥檚 wife, Mary. It was made before Travis鈥檚 devastating stroke in 2013 but was not scheduled for release until 2016. While published reports at that time had it going to DVD and to Netflix, I could not find it for sale on disc (not even via Travis鈥檚 website) nor on that streaming service. That said, it is available in digital form on Amazon.com, iTunes and Vudu.
Q: I have been a faithful viewer of 鈥淭he Americans.鈥� Will there be another season?
A: The drama begins its final season on March 28 on FX.
