Q: Has 鈥淪corpion鈥� been on its last mission? I didn鈥檛 see any promos about the April 16 episode being the season finale. But it looked as though it may have been the series finale. Will it be coming back?
A: In a press release about the April 16 episode, CBS called it the season finale of 鈥淪corpion.鈥� CBS has not said what 鈥淪corpion鈥檚鈥� future is, and final word may have to wait until mid-May when CBS unveils its full plans for 2018-19. CBS has already picked up 17 other shows for next season, including 10 dramas. They include: 鈥�48 Hours,鈥� 鈥�60 Minutes,鈥� 鈥淭he Amazing Race,鈥� 鈥淭he Big Bang Theory,鈥� 鈥淏lue Bloods,鈥� 鈥淏ull,鈥� 鈥淗awaii Five-0,鈥� 鈥淢adam Secretary,鈥� 鈥淢acGyver,鈥� 鈥淢om,鈥� 鈥淣CIS,鈥� 鈥淣CIS: Los Angeles,鈥� 鈥淣CIS: New Orleans,鈥� 鈥淪EAL Team,鈥� 鈥淪urvivor,鈥� 鈥淪.W.A.T.鈥� and 鈥淵oung Sheldon.鈥�
Q: Greetings! I was wondering if 鈥淭he Deuce鈥� will still be on HBO or is it cancelled? I know James Franco has some 鈥淢e Too鈥� problems.
A: A second season of the HBO drama about the sex and porn businesses in New York City is in production. Earlier this year five women, accused Franco of sexual misconduct on different projects; he has denied the charges. In February 鈥淭he Deuce鈥� co-creator David Simon told Variety that on the show: 鈥淲e have no complainant or complaint or any awareness of any incident of concern involving Mr. Franco. Nor has HBO been approached with any complaint. In our experience, he was entirely professional as an actor, director, and producer.鈥�
Q: When will our favourite socially inept narcissist Larry David be back with more 鈥淐urb Your Enthusiasm鈥�?
A: New episodes of 鈥淐urb鈥� always seemed to depend on when Larry David felt like making more, and sometimes he was not in the mood. The eighth season, for example, ended in September 2011 and the ninth did not begin until October 2017. Yes, six years later. But HBO announced plans for Season 10 last December, not long after the ninth season ended, and that caused hope that we might get new episodes late this year. At best, before the ninth season began, David promised the Hollywood Reporter that 鈥渋f I do another season, I鈥檓 not going to wait five years.鈥�
Q: I watched a movie, years ago, and cannot find any rerun of it anywhere. It starred Neil Diamond and I think the name of it was 鈥淐oming to America.鈥� Not the one with Eddie Murphy. Diamond sang his song with the same name in the movie. Any ideas?
A: That would be the 1980 version of 鈥淭he Jazz Singer鈥� with Diamond playing the son of a Jewish cantor pursuing instead a dream of pop stardom. The song 鈥淎merica鈥� (also known as 鈥淐oming to America鈥�) was featured in the film and a big hit. By the way, if you go looking for Diamond鈥檚 鈥淭he Jazz Singer,鈥� be sure you do not get one of three other versions: the legendary 1927 original starring Al Jolson, a 1952 remake with Danny Thomas, and a 1959 adaptation for television, with Jerry Lewis.
Q: I somehow missed some episodes of 鈥淕rey鈥檚 Anatomy鈥� last fall. What happened to Meredith鈥檚 love interest?
A: You are thinking of Nathan Riggs, played by New Zealand actor Martin Henderson. Riggs was, in the words of TV Line, 鈥淢eredith鈥檚 first big post-Derek love affair.鈥� His last appearance was in the 鈥淒anger Zone鈥� episode that aired in October. Riggs and Megan (Abigail Spencer) left Seattle for Malibu. While Henderson told Deadline.com that he had only a short-term contract with 鈥淕rey鈥檚,鈥� you may end up seeing Henderson in another project from 鈥淕rey鈥檚鈥� mastermind Shonda Rhimes. Having worked with Henderson several times, she said last year he is 鈥減art of the Shondaland family鈥� and she looks forward to finding another project with him.
