Q: I recently saw the Disney version of 鈥淐inderella鈥 with Lily James and Richard Madden as the prince. What can you tell me about this actor who played the prince?
A: While that 2015 live-action version of 鈥淐inderella鈥 was a tidy hit around the world, Scotland-born actor Madden was already known for playing Robb Stark in the HBO series 鈥淕ame of Thrones.鈥 (He is no longer on the series, for reasons I will not spoil here.) He began acting professionally when he was 11, but he did not fully commit to an acting career until he was 17. Then, he told the Scotsman newspaper, 鈥淚 got to the point when they ask you to choose what to do for the rest of your life and I knew there was nothing else I wanted to do more.鈥 He is now 31, with an array of film, television and stage roles behind him, including a stint with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Q: Do you know if 鈥 or when 鈥淭he Brave鈥 will be returning on NBC? This is one of the absolute best new shows in a decade.
A: The military drama is one of three that premiered on broadcast networks this year, along with 鈥淰alor鈥 on The CW and 鈥淪EAL Team鈥 on CBS. So let鈥檚 recap all their status.
鈥淰alor鈥 and 鈥淭he Brave鈥 have each completed their first seasons, which consisted of 13 episodes apiece. 鈥淰alor鈥 hoped for an order for additional episodes, which it did not get. The Hollywood Reporter reported that 鈥淭he Brave鈥 was meant to have a 13-episode season although, with better ratings, more first-season 鈥淏rave鈥 telecasts 鈥渨ould not have been out of the question.鈥 Still, neither show has been canceled or renewed for next season, so keep an eye out for network announcements in the spring.
鈥淪EAL Team,鈥 meanwhile, was picked up for a full, 22-episode first season less than a month after its premiere last fall, and its chances of a second season look good.
Q: Does Tom Ellis do his own singing and piano playing on 鈥淟ucifer鈥?
A: Yes, he is singing. In fact, in one TV interview near the end of the Fox series鈥 first season, he said that singing was something he especially enjoyed on the show because 鈥渕usic is a big part of my life.鈥 But that is not his piano playing. He told ScreenerTV.com that 鈥淚 can play a little bit, but piano was never my instrument. ... Hopefully people believe I鈥檓 actually tinkling those ivories.鈥
Q: I, as well as a lot of my friends, would love to know if the program 鈥淟ittle Big Shots鈥 will be coming on again soon. It is a very good show and we really enjoy watching it.
A: New episodes of the talented-youth series arrive on NBC on March 18.
Q: Will Daniel Craig reprise his role in the next James Bond movie? Is it in pre-production?
A: For a long time there were questions about whether Craig would play Bond a fifth time (following 鈥淐asino Royale,鈥 鈥淨uantum of Solace,鈥 鈥淪kyfall鈥 and 鈥淪pectre鈥). After all, he once said in an interview that he鈥檇 rather slash his wrists than return as Bond. After that interview, however, according to the New York Times, he said he had been overtired in that interview and was considering another round as 007. In January, the folks behind the Bond films said Craig is set for the next movie. It鈥檚 due in November 2019, and right now there is a lot of speculation about who will direct and who will write the script.
