Q: Is 鈥淢idnight, Texas鈥 coming back?

A: NBC has ordered a second season of the supernatural drama, though I don鈥檛 have an air date for its return at this time. There will be some changes from the first season of the show based on novels by Charlaine Harris: Neither Yul Vazquez (Rev. Emilio) nor Sarah Ramos (Creek) was listed among the returning cast members when Season 2 was announced. Some reports have suggested they could be back as guest stars. And Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder, consulting producers on the first season, have been upped to showrunners for the second.

Q: Why was the prosecutor from 鈥淟aw and Order: Special Victims Unit鈥 dropped from the program? I thought he would be there forever.

A: Raul Esparza, who played assistant district attorney Rafael Barba, told EW.com that 鈥淚 felt like it was time to go. I had explored a lot of what I thought Barba was about. ... I had reached the end of what I wanted to explore.鈥 Since Barba was not killed off on the show, there鈥檚 always a chance he could return in some fashion 鈥 as has happened with some other members of the 鈥淟aw & Order鈥 family 鈥 and Esparza said he was open to that.

Long-running shows often lose and gain actors and on 鈥淪VU,鈥 now in its 19th season, such changes shouldn鈥檛 be unexpected. For instance, Christopher Meloni (Stabler), Richard Belzer (Munch) and Dann Florek (Cragen) all departed the police drama after longer tenures than Esparza鈥檚. And Dick Wolf, the mastermind of the 鈥淟aw & Order鈥 productions and now the 鈥淐hicago鈥 series, has never been shy about cast changes.

Q: Do you know if or when the series 鈥淎lone鈥 might be returning to the History (I think) channel?

A: A fifth season of the reality series is coming to the History Channel, although a date has not been set.

Q: When I was looking for when 鈥淭yler Perry鈥檚 Too Close to Home鈥 would return, I came across an article saying it was canceled by TLC. Will it be returning on Oprah Winfrey鈥檚 OWN network, since that鈥檚 where most of his stuff winds up anyway? The series finale ended in a cliffhanger. This is one of only two of Tyler鈥檚 shows I truly enjoyed.

A: I have seen nothing about the show having a new life on another network now that TLC is done with it. Perry is always busy with new projects, and that includes a change in his TV connection. In 2019, his exclusive production deal with OWN will end and he will begin producing new shows exclusively for Viacom, the corporation including BET and other network. According to Deadline.com, the deal will also include Viacom鈥檚 Paramount Pictures getting first crack at Perry鈥檚 movies. Not that he is entirely done with OWN yet, with Deadline noting that Perry鈥檚 OWN shows will continue to have new episodes into 2020.

Q: I watch 鈥淗awaii 5-0鈥 and there is a male character on the show who is or was married to the female character who left the show. What happened to that relationship?

A: Adam Noshimuri (played by Ian Anthony Dale) is still married to Kono Kalakaua. Grace Park, who played Kono, left the series after the end of last season. She and Daniel Dae Kim, who played Chin Ho Kelly, exited reportedly because they could not agree to new contracts that paid them what Alex O鈥橪oughlin and Scott Caan were getting on the show. At the beginning of the season, viewers were told that Chin and Kono have moved on to special task forces elsewhere . Which is at least better than getting killed in a helicopter crash between seasons. As far as we鈥檝e known at this point, Adam and Kono are still married; in a December episode, he was getting ready for a flight to Los Angeles to see her.
