The Butchart Gardens is upping its on-site activity this weekend, with the first of its summer-themed attractions kicking off three months of activity at the national historic site.
Nightly illuminations — thanks to more than 3,000 lights placed around the site — begin at the gardens on Saturday, June 1, and will remain in effect each evening Wednesday through Saturday until Sept. 15. The popular Brentwood Bay attraction will also open its summer series of entertainment on June 28, with the first of its 38 musical performances — free with paid admission to the gardens — on tap through Aug. 31. The much-adored fireworks displays return on June 29, and will entertain audiences each Saturday evening until Aug. 31.
Highlights abound on the concert calendar, topped by a performance from Vancouver classic rock band Chilliwack on Aug. 15. The event is expected to reach capacity, which prompted organizers to make a limited number of guaranteed admission tickets available for purchase starting June 10 at 9 a.m. The remainder will be available during the day of the event on a first-come, first-serve basis, included with regular paid admission to the gardens.
Other standouts on the concert lawn this summer include The Chris Millington Band (July 3 and 31), Cousin Harley (July 11), Barney Bentall, Tom Taylor, and Shari Ulrich (July 17), Kobo Town (July 25), Victoria Symphony (Aug. 1), Stephen Fearing (Aug. 30), and more.
