Cineplex Theatres locations across the country will celebrate the legacy of one of the most legendary rock bands from sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ with The Tragically Hip: The Ultimate Double Feature.
The documentaries Long Time Running and A National Celebration will tour sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ in a limited capacity starting on Sept. 18. Two theatres on Vancouver Island — Galaxy Cinemas in Nanaimo and SilverCity Victoria — will show the double-feature at 3 p.m. on Sept. 20.
Long Time Running, which follows the band as it crosses sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ on its final tour, was co-directed by Victoria-raised filmmaker Jennifer Baichwal, while A National Celebration — which was broadcast to a record-breaking CBC audience of 11.7 million people in 2016 — captured the band’s last concert prior the death of frontman Gord Downie.
