UVic artist wins $50,000 grant

Alaskan artist and University of Victoria guest professor Nicholas Galanin has won the $50,000 Ras-muson Fellowship.

Alaskan artist and University of Victoria guest professor Nicholas Galanin has won the $50,000 Ras-muson Fellowship.

Galanin, who is Audain Professor in Contemporary Arts of the Pacific Northwest at UVic, won in the Crafts and Traditional Arts category.

The grant is administered by United States Artists, a non-profit organization.

Galanin, a Tlingit/Aleut artist, divides his time between Sitka, Alaska, and Victoria.
