Vancouver Island鈥檚 old-growth forests reach a national stage today in Toronto with the premi猫re of the IMAX movie Embers and the Giants at the Images Festival.
The movie will also be seen at Imax theatres in Victoria, Edmonton, Sudbury and Montreal this fall.
Embers and Giants by Canadian artist Kelly Richardson 鈥 a professor of visual arts at the University of Victoria 鈥 looks at an old-growth forest at last light.
Richardson鈥檚 projects have received major international acclaim and have been shown in the National Gallery of sa国际传媒.
Ken Wu, executive director of the Endangered Ecosystems Alliance, said it is exciting to have Vancouver Island forests seen through Imax.
鈥淭he old-growth forests around Port Renfrew, still largely endangered, are clearly continuing to impress increasing numbers of people 鈥 not only tourists, but acclaimed artists, as well.鈥
